Position: 911 Call Center Operator

As a 911 call center operator, you will be the first voice of hope for individuals in distress. Your primary responsibility will be to receive emergency calls, assess the situation, and dispatch the appropriate emergency services. This role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to remain calm under pressure, and a commitment to serving those in need.

Responsibilities

  • Answer emergency calls promptly and professionally.
  • Gather necessary information from callers to determine the nature of the emergency.
  • Dispatch police, fire, and medical services as appropriate.
  • Maintain a calm and reassuring demeanor while managing stressful situations.
  • Document calls and actions taken accurately.
  • Provide clear and concise communication with emergency personnel and callers.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (some college coursework preferred).
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to think critically and make quick decisions in emergency situations.
  • Proficient computer skills, including experience with records management systems.
  • Must be able to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Experience in a call center or emergency response setting is advantageous but not required.
  • State certification or Emergency Telecommunicator certification preferred, or the willingness to obtain within first year of employment.
